Taylor Wily, the American actor and former sumo wrestler best known for his roles in the television series 'Hawaii Five-0' and 'Magnum P.I.,' has died at the age of 56. The cause of death is not yet known, but an investigation is underway.
Wily was born Teila Tuli in Laie, Hawaii, on June 14, 1968. He began his career as a sumo wrestler, achieving the rank of yokozuna, the highest rank in the sport. After retiring from sumo, he began acting, appearing in small roles in films and television shows before landing his breakout role as Kamekona Tupuola in 'Hawaii Five-0' in 2010.
Wily's performance as Kamekona, the lovable shrimp truck owner, made him a fan favorite. He reprised the role in the 'Magnum P.I.' reboot, which premiered in 2018. In addition to his television roles, Wily also appeared in films such as 'The Last Airbender' (2010) and 'Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle' (2017).
Wily's death has come as a shock to his family, friends, and fans. He is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
