Djokovic's Golden Slam Hopes Dashed by Zverev

Novak Djokovic's hopes of winning a Golden Slam are over after he lost to Alexander Zverev in the Olympic tennis semi-finals. Wimbledon champion Djokovic was bidding to become the first man since Steffi Graf in 1988 to win all four majors and Olympic gold in the same year.

But the world No 1 was outplayed by Zverev, who won 1-6 6-3 6-1. The German will now face ROC's Karen Khachanov in the final.

It was a disappointing end to Djokovic's Olympic campaign. He had been in impressive form throughout the tournament, but he was unable to match Zverev's power and aggression.

Zverev, who is ranked sixth in the world, was in inspired form. He broke Djokovic's serve three times in the second set and twice in the third set. Djokovic had no answer to Zverev's big serve and powerful groundstrokes.

The defeat will be a major disappointment for Djokovic, who was aiming to win his first Olympic gold medal. He will now have to wait until the US Open in August for another chance to complete the Golden Slam.
