Alexander Zverev Wins Second Rome Masters Title
German Star Continues Hot Streak with Triumph Over Nicolás Jarry
Zverev Overcomes Jarry in Straight Sets
Alexander Zverev has captured his second Italian Open title, defeating Nicolás Jarry in straight sets in the final in Rome. The victory marks the German star's sixth ATP Masters 1000 title, and his first since winning in Madrid last year.
Zverev, who also won the Rome Masters in 2017, was in dominant form throughout the tournament, dropping only one set en route to the title. In the final, he overcame a spirited challenge from Jarry, but ultimately prevailed with a 6-4, 7-5 victory.
The victory is a timely boost for Zverev as he prepares for the French Open, which begins next week. He has been in excellent form this season, winning two titles and reaching the final of the Australian Open.
Jarry, meanwhile, can take heart from his performance in Rome. The Chilean qualifier reached the final of a Masters 1000 tournament for the first time, and pushed Zverev to the limit in the championship match.
